Have a chance to acquire one for $95 CDN.
smoothbore .50 cal percussion pistol.
don't know much about the brand except its Spanish.
anyone have any experience with these?

Hi,
Not to rain on your parade, BUT some of the Spanish muzzle loading pistols ( if that is what it is??) were pretty bad.
The steel was fine ( the barrel ) but the locks were horrible, and were hard to find a lock that would fit in the original lock mortice.
Even the stocks were bad.
So if this is what you are looking at for $95 hang on to your money until the right one comes along.
What are you looking for? Perhaps one of us can help you find something.
Don't get me wrong you could have a great find.
Show us a picture of your find and we can tell you what it is.
There is a company out of Nova Scotia that is selling copies of late 1700"s and early 1800's pistols finished and unfinished for a very fair prices. ( about $385 )
They are sold without the touch hole being drilled, so they are unregistered.
Only after you drill the touch hole does the gun have to be registered. ???
By the way, welcome to the forum!
Fred

its this thing. found one on Joe Salter auctions, much prettier...
while not the ugliest pistol, definitely not a good looking one. other internet searches identify it as a Jukar, and it does not seem common on the internet.
there is no side plate or butt cap.

Hello again,
At $95????? the most I would go is maybe $20-$25
for something to play with.
It represents no gun of historical value, by configuration or design.
So you would be left with an ugly duckling that no history fan would entertain.
Uberti and Pedersoli has made some nice guns that work, and represents some pistol of historical value.
Give me a moment and I will find that company in Nova Scotia that sells decent replicas for a decent dollar.
I have had similar pistols that you have pictured, and they were very poor in quality and function.
Fred

Loyalist Arms, that is correct.
You will get purist complaints about them, but their stuff is not too bad.
Just a little comparison, I have a Pedersoli .44 cal. target pistol, they sell for $650.(Canadian)
I think that is about $200 US :barf: :td:
Beautiful pistol, single set trigger, amazingly accurate to fifty yards.
I did not pay that much for it, it was included in a package estate sale.
Have a great day! Eh?
Fred

i didn't buy it. not sure i`d be able to look at it without wanting to restock it, add a side plate, butt cap, and so on....

i did avoid it.
beer budget. usually get unwanted and neglected guns and bring them back to life.
