When deer hunting and you come upon a handsome multi pointed buck in the act of mating do you take ready advantage of his distraction and fire your killing round
OR
\\in an act of compassion for a fellow male, you hold off till he is walking around congratulating himself as the coolest buck in the woods?

every funeral i've attended where a friend has died during an activity, everybody states that at least he went out doing what he liked!!!
you know the deer is doing what he liked so blast him and if you miss then you may get a second shot.

Well, I've taken many of them while they were hot trailing a doe. Never did once they'd caught her.

More than a few good old boys met their demise at the hands of jealous husbands during such acts. And 50 years ago, the husband would walk.

My son a couple of years ago watched 2 nice bucks fighting. The winner walked towards my son and ended up loosing.

That buck is now our our wall.

All the times I’ve been in the woods I’ve never caught two mammals ”˜flagrante delecto’ as it were. Bucks with noses up on the way to a rendezvous or trash talking another buck, but never in the act. Seen plenty of birds and reptiles, with tortoise at the top of the list. Ofcorse they spent a week just getting to the girl and have no intention of stopping because a noisy human came by.

I'd choot' eem, Liz!.

Seriously, I'd let her rip. No mercy. I'm a meat hunter and I aim to be sportsman like, and if he didn't want to die in such a fashion, he'd of done well to have rented a room at the Stag Suites. :rotf:

Dutch, depends on 2 things! If the buck is nice but not really big I'd pass on him. And if I was holding a doe tag I'd shoot the doe!

Ever since I totaled my car hitting a huge doe, I've been seeking REVENGE! LOL

You are a true gentleman!

One does one's best to maintain a sense of decorum and the chivalric values pertinent to the blackpowder era .
eh what ?

Dutch it would all depend how big that rack was.
I was hunting with some friends one day coyote hunting and a friend of mine shot a Squirrel in the act right off the top.
We all laughed till it hurt.
