Got a never been fired musketoon and the factory nipple (currently soaking) is being difficult.
What's the best available nipple wrench to use on these rascals?

The Kroil hasn't worked yet.

And the new nipple wrench received wouldn't fit without jeweler file work to open it up .01".
Oh, well. Reckon that's how you gets the perfect fit on your nipple wrench!

You could easily procure one from round stock, That would be my go to.

Use a nipple for reference, make the correct crosscuts to the proper depth and use a corresponding drill bit to drill the hole.

The saga continues.
Soaked Kroil inside and out.
So, these English nipples are supposed to be 1/4" square.
Oh duh, a 5/16" socket with a 1/4" drive oughta just snuggle right down on there and let me stick in a 5/16" allen wrench and put me some real elbow grease on it!
Uh, not. The quarter inch square is too big. Geepers no wonder that new nipple wrench didn't fit.
So maybe it soaks until next weekend.

Are you absolutely positively double sure the firearm is unloaded? I mean super duper 100%? If so apply some heat to the nipple. A small butane torch is good for this. Soak in whatever witches brew you like at least for over night then apply heat. Use a good wrench and it should come loose. Use visegrips if the nipple can be replaced and the wrench flats are too damaged to use a nipple wrench on. Just make certain the firearm is unloaded first!!!!!!!!!!

Be way easier IMHO to open the one he has with a file. Much easier than making a whole new wrench

The slotted too small nipple wrench wasn't strong enough for the stuck nipple. I did open it up with a file. To no avail.
So, today after many days of Kroil I hammered the 1/4" drive end of a 5/16" socket onto the nipple and muscled it out with a 5/16" allen wrench.
So now I absolutely have the answer for what the best musket nipple wrench is...
a socket from the set I bought when I needed a replacement nipple wrench for the Ruger Old Army.

At last I'm a'gonna hurl minies with this shorty little booger.

Had the same, but worse stuck musket nipple. Had to use my plumbers torch and a set of needle nose vise grips. Even then, it was a pain, but it finally came out.
