Mohawk on netflix
watched it last nite
what a bad bad movie
looked almost like a Monty Python film
anyone else ""LUCKY"" enough to watch it?

I started watching the movie, but only made it about 5 minutes before I had enough of the poor modern dialog and bad costuming. Reminded me of Frontier.

We had a discussion about it on another forum I belong to and I'll post what I wrote there below in an attempt to discorage any of you who are thinking about wastng your time. I did watch the trailer and even regreted that.

"After one member of her tribe sets an American camp ablaze, a young Mohawk warrior finds herself pursued by a contingent of military renegades set on revenge. Fleeing deep into the woods they call home, Oak and Calvin, along with their British companion Joshua, must now fight back against the bloodthirsty Col. Holt and his soldiers. They must use every resource that the forest can offer."

I believe you left out women's lib too.

"Mohawk is a 2017 American action horror film" (Wikipedia)

I'm sure they meant to write horrible. I've never heard of any of the cast.

"Three lovers, at the end of The War of 1812, burdened with seeing their people killed, light fire to an American encampment. Little do they realize, seven men escape the fire and track the trio down, determined to seek their own revenge." (Wikipedia)

Three lovers, a female warrior and two men, let's not even go there.

It's almost difficult to believe that even liberal California Democrats could come up with a story line that far removed from reality.

"must now fight back against the bloodthirsty Colonel Holt and his soldiers - using every resource both real and supernatural that the winding forest can offer." (Rotten Tomatoes)

Wow! It gets even weirder. At 92 minutes at least you won't have to suffer long.

did you also notice when running through the woods the trees were evenly spaced in rows--""NOT a WILD FOREST""

Missed that, couldn't see the trees for the forest. Actually my visual senses were overwhelmed by seeing the soldier with the modern knee brace on the outside of his trousers and the other one with the welder's (steampunk?) goggles. And then there was the warrior girl; red mini skirt, almost yellow "deerskin" top and war paint that looked like she put on her mascara with a 4" brush. She really looked like a guy in drag to me. :idunno: Should I even mention Holt's ears?

Simply amazing! The things that can be learned from movies like this one.

I didn't even suspect that the Mohawks had women warriors. I thought their warriors were all men like the other Indian tribes.

I also didn't know punk sunglasses were in style that long ago. The mind boggles.

And talk about war paint!!
Many of the Indian tribes used it to frighten their enemy's but seeing a face with eyes that look like they went 15 loosing rounds with Mohammad Ali, now, that's truly frightening!
With paint like that it's a wonder the Mohawks didn't win every battle.

After reading the comments I just couldn't go without watching the trailer.

It was every bit as bad as the comments above make it out to be. I don't even want to think of what sitting thru an hour and a half watching that movie would do to me.

I think that is the horror the description above was talking about.

""Shame on ME"" I sat through the entire movie--was just wondering if it could get worse--Yep--the entire movie was worst--

Fyi, virtually all of us Woodland folks have female ancestors who were WARRIORS, though the vast majority of such females "left the trail of war" after they married & had children.
(Some of the FIERCIEST of Woodland tribal warriors were teenaged females.)

Over 2 centuries after her death in battle against the Susquehannocks about 1750, the name "Runs Far Girl" is still remembered among our people for her prowess with a bow, war-ax & knife, while engaged in close combat with our tribe's enemies.
(While we do NOT believe in reincarnation, remembering/speaking the "war-name" of a departed warrior means that he/she "in some measure lives again".)

Note: Unlike some of the Western tribal groups, we Woodland Amer-Indians do speak of those "who have walked on" & remember their brave deeds.

ADDENDA to the post # 1694078, above: The women of each clan arranged all of the marriages & "bride prices" (usually paid "in horses", after they had horses in their area) were required of the groom's family by the time of the wedding.
(Among most Woodland tribes, the men owned nothing but their clothing, weapons, horse(s) & tack.= Their mother owned everything that a warrior might acquire until he married. Then his bride received his property from his mother.)

One of the "perceived attributes" that raised a girl's value, i.e., her "bride price" as a bride/wife/mother was IF she had proven to be "worthy in battle".
(A rather ordinary teenaged girl, "whose hand in marriage" would cost 1-3 horses could cost her prospective husband 10 or more horses, if the women tribe believed that her likely value as a wife was worth that many horses.)

Note: A mother who had several comely/widely believed to be likely to become talented/industrious/generous/brave wives/good mothers might well become very rich in horses & (by the mid-19th century) other things of value.
(At the end of the S-A War, a member of our clan returned from the war, with a pocketful of money & asked his mother to contract for the hand of a local beauty named LITTLE DANCING FAWN. After negotiations were completed, CPL Jonas R. Deepwater was required to pay the bride's mother 8 horses & 20 head of cattle for her.= I've always been sorry that there's no photograph of her, as she must have been a "rare beauty", as well as the women of both families were obviously impressed with her perceived worth as a wife/mother.)
While it was "BAD MANNERS" for a girl to brag about how much that her bride price was, in such a small/close society, everyone knew. = In the case of Little Dancing Fawn, I'm sure that the news went across the village at near the speed of sound.
(CHUCKLE.)

I watched both "Mohawk" and the first episode of "Frontier" ... I was utterly disappointed... I wonder why filmmakers do not even bother to put in a minimum effort of looking for some historical correct material, clothing, guns, story... There's a lot of talk about 'fake news' lately ... pity the movies don't get any better either! :shake:

I suspect this is because the truth isn't as flashy and that the public & producers don't care. I blame the US educational system and apathy - it's all about cell phones, reality TV and the lack of any real drive to learn.

In fairness to the moviemakers, this film was FICTION.= Movies out of Holly-WEIRD are seldom realistic.

I've NOT seen any zombies walking about in my neighborhood either.
