I just read on another website that the Santa Fe Trail Rendezvous in Raton, NM., has been cancelled due to fire and safety measures.

Was asked to pass it on.

That's too bad. I used to go to that one when I lived in NM. It was always fun! Its a beautiful location too!!

I heard there was a big fire just north of the NRA Whittington Center where its held.

yessir, it's another spooky fire season down here. They had to close and evacuate Philmont Scout Ranch, and evacuate much of Cimarron. with the fire danger so extreme I expect
more closings and cancellations this year:

"CIMARRON, N.M. ”” A northern New Mexico wildfire that has threatened two communities and a Boy Scouts camp is now contained around two-thirds of its perimeter.

The incident management team assigned to the fire between Ute Park and Cimarron reported Thursday night that it was 66 percent contained and has burned 57.4 square miles (149 sq. kilometers)."

I was there in 1960 and I wonder how much the place has changed. Back then, everything was canvas and wool, not much nylon, and no cell service either. Lots of memories though.
