The June 2018 issue of THE AMERICAN RIFLEMAN, starting on page 50, I will call it, including pictures, a 6½ page article about a pair of flintlock pistols that were once owned by Lafayette, Gen. George Washington as well as President Jackson, to name a few.

To get a run down on the previous owners as well as photographs and verbal descriptions, the article, in my opinion, is worth your time.

We are lucky this wasn't one of them.

"His Excellency the General lost one of his pistols yesterday upon Dorchester Neck. Whoever will bring it to him or leave it with General Thomas shall receive two dollars reward and no questions asked; it is a screwed barreled pistol mounted with silver and a head resembling that of a pug dog at the butt."
