Looking at uberti and pietta London models i see some with and some without the stock provisions.

Question is, did they have the buttons and frame notch's historically or not.

I have been under the impression that 51 Colts did NOT have these provisions.

What say yee?

I agree, no butt stocks on the London models. I looked at photos of my girlfriend’s father’s collection. He had two cased sets of the London Colts. The recoil shields were not cut for stocks.

Kinda thought so myself. I have never seen a 51 of any sort ... pictures or revolvers ... (original Colts) that were so configured but my exposure is limited.

The Colt 1851 London's not only did not have a cutout for a shoulder stock, except for a very few first issues, they also did not have brass grip straps or trigger guards.

The first few London marked guns were shipped from the U.S. and the British were less than happy with them because of the silver plated brass parts.

They demanded iron or steel for the back grip strap and trigger guard and Colt, being no dummy, immediately changed the pistols to please them.

Anyone interested in these London Colts should look for a book entitled, "COLONEL COLT LONDON , by Joseph G. Rosa. © 1976

Hundreds of pictures and more information about the London Colts than a person could ask for. :)
