Has anybody any experience with borescopes/endoscopes in muzzleloaders ?
I see that there are a couple of brands on the market [ Lyman and Teslong ] but the probes are only 24 inches long .
Not much use for a muzzleloader .
There are cheaper types with longer flexible probes , but do they work for bore inspection ?

I bought a Depstech off amazon last year.
the scope part has a variable intensity led that is 8mm. diameter. the cable part is about 12 ft or longer.
the 8mm will go down a .36 cal barrel.
here is a pic of the bottom of my old tc .50cal.

works well for me and the cable can be bent to the desired angles.

I bought an "oasis" bore scope off flea-bay (less than $40). It has a 48" cable, and will go down a .30 caliber barrel. It comes with a "right angle" attachment so you can see into the grooves of the barrel and has a variable intensity light wheel. I was amazed at the bore condition of some of my rifles that I thought I had cleaned really well. I guess you can never get barrels truly spotless, but now I check to see how well I have done.

I agree, after a range visit I clean my rifle with warm soapy water, pumping the jag to flush out all the fouling, and then dry the barrel, and then liberally apply my usual gun oil.
Before I re-visit the range, I always run a dry patch or two to make sure most of the oil is picked up and then use 50/50 70% alcohol and Murphy's oil soap to pick up any oil that is left.
I sometimes, not often, get a patch with a small amount of black on it even after all that cleaning.

I usually shoot once a week at the range, and after a thorough cleaning that evening, I'll check the bore almost daily with a cleaning patch, and it seems there is almost always a hint of black I didn't reach. My bore looks super shiny, but I'm guessing there are tiny places in the rifling or the bore that hold onto BP. However, it doesn't affect my .50 cal. GPR or T/C Renegade at all. About twice a year I'll run Hoppe's #9 down the barrel and leave it overnight, just because I'm OCD about a clean bore.

Wow, nice clear picture! Do you have a link or what the name of the scope was called? That looks like it would be perfect for checking out a bore.

I got one of those endoscopes too. For what I paid for it, it does a great job. Used it to check on a clogged kitchen drain too.

It was something like this one:

It comes in different lengths. I got the 2 meter (approx. 6 ft.) one and hook it up to my phone.

An eBay search for endoscope will bring up a bunch of them.

Eric I checked out EBay and they do have a lot of them! Do you have the make and or model number of the one you purchased? I’ve used one or two of them purchased from eBay at my range and the view was no where as clear as the one you are using! Would like to get the same one as you if the info is available. Thanks Art

These scopes actually have a focus adjustment knob on them. I plugged mine in the other day and the picture was awful, I started looking at ebay to buy another one, then I noticed a little wheel on the USB port connector. I gave it a spin and my picture quality came back to what you see in the picture.

I am pretty sure these scopes are all the same, I have had mine for years so I can't direct you to the same one as the transaction is long gone.

I have one from HF that I bought a couple years ago for $16, IIRC. It did come with directions; but I don't know enough about computers to understand all the terms, names. It shows on a computer and probably an I phone. I have enough trouble with my old flip phone.

Shipped from the US, a few days to get it. It will say on the listing if it is shipped from the US or China.
