Anyone own a CVA Squirrel model 32 caliber percussion? Thoughts? Sure don't see much about them. Using the search feature here even didn't turn up much information.

I picked one up in a pawn shop back in 2014 for $150. One of my better buys. Neat little rifle. If you run across one, grab it.

CVA quit making them some time ago and when they did they constantly made slight variations in their guns which constituted a new name. Probably allot of why little information on one particular model.

I've found a couple of them and seems they are all going for about double what you paid for yours. But if it shoots well, I suppose its worth it. I'm considering one that appears in great shape. I see yours shoots a patched round ball well also...that's what I am looking for. What is the twist rate on the barrel, anyone know? Edit: I see now at the bottom of your photo it says twist rate 1:56.

I have a plain jane version called the "Grey Squirrel". It has no brass nose cap or trigger guard. Mine shoots to almost one hole at 25 yards with 20 grains of 3f and a .015 mink oil lubed patch. The short (25") barrel is great for snaking thru the brush when jump shooting bunnies. Think I paid $110 for it brand new when I ordered it thru Cabela's about 35 years ago. I won't ever sell it cause it shoot too good.

Bought one second hand but never fired for $200.00 CDN. I`ll never sell it, with 25 gn FFFg and a PRB with Dutch`s system I get touching hole groups at 50 yds from a bench. great small game gun, and if i come across another I`ll buy that one too. shoot all day and won't make a big dent in the powder either.

I use to own one...It was a great shooter....one raged hole using Maxi-balls, I got rid of it because it didn't really fit me and was a pain to load and clean....I wish I had kept it though....

I had a CVA squirrel rifle, one of CVA's better ideas and guns. Unfortunately, someone visited while I was away and they decided they needed the gun more than I did. CVA sold another squirrel rifle which was put together on it's Bobcat platform. I have seen both 32 and 36 caliber guns from CVA with the single trigger and they looked like the Bobcat with a small caliber barrel on them. They did the same thing with the Frontier riffle, first selling one with DST's and then ten years later one with a single trigger.

Navy Arms sold a nice little half stock 36 caliber. Neither their 36 or the CVA 36 were popular enough to continue production. I have been contemplating making up a 36 to fit my half stock Traditions gun. But even the drop in barrel idea did not keep Green Mountain producing them. So I get to try to duplicate a breech to fit the gun.
