I remember the prices weren't any better than what I get from Powder Inc. but that's based on ordering case lot quantities to "spread out" the haz-mat fee.

I want to say the last I bought there was 2 lbs of 1f Goex in Sept. of 2016 and I think it was $18.00 a pound.

Powder price continue to climb, it is supply & demand. In the old day their was more of as demand for REAL BLACK POWDER when the U.S. Nasty was using the stuff in their big guns.

Today the demand is very small compair to during the Vietnam way.

Many manufactures have gone out of the business, and with few sources the price has climbed up up and away.

Recall when a pound of Elephant, or Goex was under $6.00, that is history.

Back in the early 70's I use to buy Real Black Powder from a Sporting Good Store in Inglewood, CA. A 25# case was like $52.00 who would have ever thought a pound would be almost $20.00/pound?

:youcrazy:

Stock up now while it is still available, could soon be harder to find.

what did a car cost in 1970? Should of stocked up then.

Wages were different as well. When I was in college back in 1982, I was doing farm work for $25 for a 10 hour day.

It is all relevant.

It seems that I paid $42 including tax for two pounds of ffg Goex a couple years back at the Nashville Outdoor World (Bass Pro Shop).

But I didn’t have to wait a week on shipping or pay the Haz-Mat fee..... well I’m sure that was part of the price anyway.

Skychief, check out black powder at Deer Creek Products in Waldron Indiana. No hazmat fees if you pick it up yourself.

Current NMLRA prices are:

Goex $18/lb
Swiss $25/lb
Olde Eynsford $20/lb
Schuetzen $17/lb

For comparison, I have a price of $320 for a 25 lb bag of Goex from Deer Creek.
