Chambers offers a rifle barrel upgrade in their Pennsylvania Fowler and Smooth Rifle kits in either .50 or .54 cal.
As best I have found, they are made by Longhammock and are the same octagon to round, just rifled.
I know many will say just buy a rifle, but I really like the looks and feel of a fowler, I have owned one. Any pards out there have any experience with a rifled fowler or can comment on them. Many thanks.

The main thing to consider is weight.
You're going to have a much heavier gun. Same diameter barrel with a MUCH smaller hole. It will definitely change that fowler feel.

I built the smooth rifle with a rifled 50 cal barrel. The muzzle is only 3/4”, so this is not a heavy rifle. Chambers says it weighs 7 & 1/4 pounds and I believe it. Ballence is great. I did use the rifle trigger guard to give it more of a rifle appearance. You need a bit more meat for the rifling. I’m not sure if it’s the same profile they use for the 20 gauge, but the 50 cal is not a heavy barrel.

I'd love to see a pic of that Penn fowler with the rifle trigger guard that you built . . .I am building a Chambers Penn Fowler right now.

My barrel for the Chambers Penn Fowler in .62 Oct to Round was built by Rice. I think, but am not sure, that Rice makes barrels for Chambers now.
