I just scored a fairly old lead pot and about 20 pounds of lead for $15.00. The lead seems close to pure. I hope that's a good price.

Good deal...I like ordering lead online and have them send it USPS for a nominal fee...As long as it fits in that box...same price! My postman hates me...He he he!

Had a client that is in charge of medical X-Ray machine maintenance in Phoenix get me what I guess is 20 lbs of pure lead. Now I can think about "trying again......(don't breath a word of this to my wife :nono: )

A very close friend is a retired Verizon (Ma Bell) lineman, who accumulated over a half-ton of lead from the cable junctions (?) he replaced over the years - which we both dip into whenever the gun room supply runs low.

After all these years, there's probably enough to last until we go for our Dirt Naps.

My Dad and uncle owned a plumbing company back in the day. Still has the shop which has a ton of lead piping and pig lead. Grab up a bunch every time I go back home to Wyoming to visit the folks.

That's a treasure trove. Take all you can before someone else does.

Everything in the Shop might be sold one day except the lead! Dad knows that I use it to make my ball’s.

I have been lucky! I am a super for a general contractor and we specialize in medical renovation and new construction for the last 20 yrs. Over the years I have probably collected a couple of tons of lead shielding from jobs. That stuff is pure and it is great! I have shared quite a bit with friends.

I got my lead stash after a local church had most of it roofing lead robbed by a bunch of itinerant 'travellers' for the third time in five years.

As a result, all the remaining stuff was removed and replaced with low-melt, no-value, lead substitute material, and I got around 700 pounds of the real thing in return for not a lot. Seein as how it's already in pretty thin sheet form, it's no trouble to hack it up with a decent set of hand shears, and the exercise does me good.
