Many years ago in the 1960's I checked out a book at the library that was about the history of guns and it was written by fellow named Claud E. Fuller. I found this book very interesting and no doubt it helped cultivate my interest in muzzleloaders. This book had many photographs of guns from his extensive collection and a lot of words. Frankly, it was the thickest book I had ever read up until that time.

Now fast forward to the 1980's. I learned we were going to see relatives in December that lived in Chatanooga, TN, only two months away. I really wanted to see this Mr. Claud E. Fuller's gun collection if possible. But how do I find it or him. Many library's used to telephone directories from cities around the USA. Thanks to the inter-library loan I was able to get the Chatanooga phone directory. The Mr. Fuller that I was looking for was not listed. Calling the Fullers listed in the white pages came up with no answers to my question.

For some reason I looked in the yellow pages thinking that Mr. Fuller may have been in business and a relative ran the company. After a number of calls I came upon a business whose owner was not a Mr. Fuller, but, he knew one of his employees did re-enacting of the Civil War and perhaps he knew. I learned his secretary would find out which employee did the re-enacting and see what she could find out ... call me tomorrow. I call back and talk to the fellow that does the re-enacting. Before we hung up I thanked him for his help and I would be seeing the Claud E. Fuller's collection.

Now it is 2018 and the Internet is world wide. Also Mr. Claud E. Fuller's Collection is easier to find.

Claud E. Fuller Collection Information

It has been a few years since I saw the collection. It was well worth the time to stop and view the display.
