I've slowed down a lot now that I'm a geeser, last year about a pound and a half. Over the years I would buy it a couple of pounds at a time till I figured out how well it keeps and started buying it much cheaper by the case. Five cases so far.

I slowed down a bit too, also being a gezzer
but our range here gives us 3 hours once a
month....way too many rules....so some of us
go out in the bush.....

Between monthly shoots at a couple of clubs and reenacting, I use prolly 5-7 lbs a year if I had to guess. It's sometimes hard to tell do to replacing used powder with new powder won at the shoots.

Depends on what gun , rifle you use ,My big 4 bore when in use at game fairs could use I kilo each day, last year I used 6.1/2 kilos which consisted of pest control, black powder cartridges . game shooting . rifle shooting ,

Shooting the big 4 bore

I keep track of all my shooting ... and yes I am a bit fanatic about it ... I keep a logbook with stamps in it equaling the target on which I put my shot placement, keep score of loads, lubes, ball weight, temps, humidity etc. etc. I even keep an Excel file with graphics to look at my development ... So, the last 12 months, I went 28 times to the range, shot each time 27 shots (one fouling and two 13 shot targets) at 45 grains each... that amounts to 34020 grains or 2,2 kilo's or about 4,85 pounds of Swiss no. 2 ... Did I mention that I am a stickler for numbers??? :surrender:

The amount of powder I use per year is about as consistent as the weather. I haven't been shooting quite as much recently as at other times. I also shoot the smaller bores a lot. Wild guess but maybe upwards of 3 to 5 pounds. :v:

Or an accountant.

Shame on us for jumping to conclusions.

Im an accountant, I considered the same thing but Im too damn lazy to take that detailed a note in a recreational hobby. :)

hard to say,but if I had to guess , about 4 to 7 pounds.
I just went to check , and found 26 cans empty from the last 3 years or so. I have a 50 yrd range in the back yard and go often for small game.
Someone told me to keep the empties to buy loose powder by the case because is cheaper. It comes in a bag of 25 pounds in a cardboard box, as I was told.

It really depends on the caliber that I am shooting.

The only things I shot last year were two .36 caliber rifles and one .36 caliber smooth bore.
They do not take much powder or lead, so maybe a pound or less.
