Location
England.
It's rained sleet most the day but stopped with a couple of hours light left.
Taking the loaded faux trade gun that has been loaded for day's I headed to a spot to ambush a pheasant.
I got my bird eventually, everything was so damp nothing would spark! A bird escaped my failing lock but with some harsh flint chipping I got the next bird.

Good deal  If we had those here I couldnt hit them unless I found one dumb enough to stand still a moment

Be careful out there, Brits, don't let the polar bears get you.

Love the photo, stole it for my file.

They release them here... Must be to feed the Coyotes cause I never see them....

Guys guys, thanks but not every bird I shoot is a wing shot!
Some I take like you guys take a turkey.
I am a pot hunter so take an opportunity when I can.
I may of done some home work first to find an 'opportunity' but it's not always a wing shot, in fact it's akin to how an archer may hunt!

Shame on you sir I am not a pot hunter and there is no way I would take a sitting shot I would dog it up so it has a sporting chance.

Shame on me for what?
Who are you exactly to judge me and what I do?
Shame on all the pricked birds shot at by "sporting" shots whome never even handle prep and cook their birds!
Self righteous pompous fools.

Strange reply do I detect a sign of jealousy. I am no pot hunter and just a retired working class chap like yourself .
Feltwad

Jealousy :rotf:

Even working class can turn into snobs, exactly why I left the established British driven shoot.
May I suggest you express your negative opinions in your own posts as considering I have done nothing illegal you are not my superior, judge and jury.

Thank you everyone one else.

At one point in my life I too was one of those pompous fools. Now well over 60, and hunting from a blind for larger game, and hunting for primary reason of putting food on the table and in the freezer, I am much wiser. And I too have seen way too many "sport" shooters who wound and do not gather, dress or prepare their own kills. Those have earned the title you so aptly titled them with. Live well, Brit, I envy your lifestyle. Maybe someday...

Thank you Sir.

I too was steeped in the traditional way here, often witnessing hundreds of birds shot by folk that simply don't care. I too would be with them sometimes joining in.
Now I don't want to judge them, I simply left it but when someone who implies that their way is somehow superior to my way with nothing but traditional forming their predjudice opinion/judgment I will refute it.
I have from my own pocket provided grains for these bird and taken but a few of them.
I guess there shall always be disgruntled miserable people about that like to console themselves with idylls and delusions of grandeur but as for me and many many others our conscience is clear :hatsoff:
