I just ordered a traditions deer hunter in 45 cal. Any thoughts on this gun? It will mostly be a rondys gun. But I do want to hunt with it too.

A little modern looking for the Rondy's. Maybe the Hawken hunter, Mountain rifle or the new Prairie hawken has a more historical look.

I had one in .50 for over 20 years. It was accurate and killed plenty of deer. Not a historically accurate representation for rondy's but excellent for most everything else.

I have one in 32 caliber and have thought it would be fun to have a 45 or 50 barrel for it. I really don't need another 45 or 50, but we all know how it is with muzzleloaders.

A local pawn shop has one on in flint that is stainless in 50 cal and the composite stock and sights with the green inserts. They want too much for it, but it has been there for about a year. I wonder if the barrel and lock would fit in my stock. If I could get it cheap, I'd just keep the barrel and lock and switch the two back and forth if it would fit. But, then again, I really don't need another 50.
