OK, We all know it most difficult to decide on one gun and some can't even do that :rotf:
Here is the deal.... Your loving wife, sister, girlfriend or old aunt Henrietta says she wants to fix you up with a new muzzleloader for your collection. Now what do you say? :hmm:
I'll take a Caywood Crockett Henrietta!
Flintlocklar

A very Nice wood box JP Beck in .54. I don't care who builds it as long as the work is equal too or at least very close to Beck including the I*N*R*I* on the bottom flat at the breech.

I'd like a twice shootin' scattergun please. I'd prefer a twelve gauge flintlock.
Thank you

I*N*R*I* on the bottom flat at the breech.

????????????????????????????????

Drilling
20 gage w/ last 1.5” rifled 1:94 on left barrel .36 rifled 1:34 bottom barrel

A mark to be historicity correct on the gun. NWG have tombstone fox, TFDC had Tulle spelled in Latin TVLL on it. Christian stamps fit on those rifles.
My pick on the gun, my fantasy own? a Virgina mounted smooth rifle.

OMG, I flunked the one gun test and now I'm going to flunk this one as well! :surrender: :haha:

The choice would be between:

1. P1740 Brown Bess with stouter trigger guard, simple carving around the lock and tang and the double bridle lock.

or

2. Same period English Gentlemen's or English Park Rifle, something like Jim Chambers "English Gentleman's Sporting Rifle" shown in the link below. http://www.flintlocks.com/rifles05.htm

OK, OK, I think I have it! How about a category of just a single person to build it??!!

In that case, I would be taking a trip up to see Dave Person, as IMO, he understands English Flintlock Guns as well, if not better than anyone else and makes GORGEOUS Flintlocks.

If I were to receive a new one - from any of the top notch builders - I'd spring for an early Lancaster .54. 42" - 44" swamped barrel and Chambers colonial German lock.

This, in .58 caliber.

I am lusting over a new Hawken something awful, just can't even bring up the subject. I sold my soul for a new underhammer. It is due early March.

You mean we'd have to pay for it!!! And I was going to say any gun from any of the builders that can get 6 figures because I was then going to immediately sell it and retire a year earlier!  Of course the original question did say your "loving....." would buy it, so as long as it's not my wife, which would mean the money would come out of my account anyway, I guess my answer is still any 6 figure gun!

One of Flehto's Bucks County rifles. Preferably in .36 caliber but I'd take what I could get. But, I don't think he's building anymore so,,,,
I'd let Spence name his price for that long, lean, original small bore he has, with the subtly swamped barrel and the little barley corn sights.
