Has new information, it is not a Howdah gun. it is a
over / under gun. but still made by Beretta 1840.

I do not know. found out that this is an over / under gun when I spoke to Beretta's fellow people.

I'm familiar with what a Howdah is, how it was used, etc..
Just wondering why you discredit yours as one?
If you know the date of yours, that may or may not put it within the timeframe?
Interesting piece.

Quote regarding your pistol (Howdah) from a retired Westley Richards worker in England who I correspond with often.. I sent him a photo of your pistol.
"Whist it could have been used in a Howdah, I certainly wouldn't think that its original purpose was for such duty? Most of the ML pistol that were properly intended for howdah use were often larger in calibre, to maximise the close range impact potential. With an irate tiger hanging off your elephant's truck something with as much thump as possible was definitely a good idea!"
