On the bottom flat a couple of inches up from the breech there is a shamrock stamped. Anyone know the significance.

just one of several inspectors marks T/C used over the years. some others were a diamond, spade, maltese cross a capital M and probably a few more.
 
There has been discussion, over the years, that different manufacturers made TC barrels in the early years of production. I can't recall the manufacturers, but I have seen these marks on early low serial numbered guns.
