Well it certainly looks rusted and aged but we all know that can be replicated.
Any "documentation" with the piece?
Paper, not hear/say,,

I was thinking the same. It does have the look of being older but there is nothing with it. The gentlemen said that he knows nothing about it. I need to ask where he picked it up I suppose. It sounded like he got it from an estate and has no idea what to do with it. Thank you!!

This is my worry and I guess I was wondering if there were any tell-tale signs that it is not real. I know replicas typically do not have the hole drilled from the flash pan but I guess that could be done after the fact. Thank you!!

a little closer inspection of your pics,
for proper sharing,, rotate the second pic 90° left.
it's a nonfunctional knock off wall hanger.
Pan, frizzen and hammer all give it away.
$20,, if you want a decoration or prop.
It might make a good club(?)

Hey there,
Well, I am very happy and very sad. Happy that someone with a knowledge of these could figure it out and sad that it is not authentic. This would have been my first flintlock pistol and was looking for a little project. He was asking $150. I guess that should have made me think as well. THANK YOU! for your help!

I will keep that in mind too about rotating the pic! Thank you for the tip!

The fact it doesn't appear to have any markings on lock plate or barrel breech plus what appears to have been a gold wash over the metal parts certainly says "fake". It's cool looking but got a feeling it's just a wall decoration. Sorry about that.

Yep the lock doesn't even look inletted...suggesting it has no internals and the lock doesn't even function.. and never did.
The frizen spring doesn't appear to be even touching frizen...considering the frizzen is open the spring should be compressed.
The list goes on.....

Sorry I noticed this so late. Glad you passed on it. It's a Middle Eastern copy of an Ottoman horse pistol made for the tourist trade. The lock is not functional and the barrel is just a piece of pipe. This one looks like one of the earlier ones made in the 1960's.
