Hi,

Are their any strong opinions on Rice barrel's. Thinking about underhammer chunk gun.

Michael

Go for it use a Peter Allen underhammer not the Hopkins Allen underhammer its not as good and let us know about the barrel and build

I have one his swamped 44" barrels for my .54 Lehigh. Round bottom cut grooves and a medium crown.

Has been a delight for me.

He uses a carbide die to swage the bore and the result is very smooth lands.

Jason builds a GREAT barrel. There may be others just as good, but I'd be surprised if there's any that are measurably better.

Rice (Jason) is making some nice barrels. I've had him make 2 in the past year for projects (45 & 36 cal) and picked them up at his booth at Friendship - both are octagon bullet barrels (4140). All of his 4140 barrels will have left hand twist.
A friend bought one too and it shoots really well - so I don't think you'll be disappointed.
