So what does everyone use as a base for this wonderfull Fruit?
Pilgrims used them from 1620's if I recall. Maple syrup and or Honey would have been used since sugar was for the rich.

Made some yesterday.

12oz cranberries
04oz blueberries
04 medium oranges (juice)
04oz honey
Salt

Mmmmmm ( I normaly add vanilla bean but they didnt have it back then)

We keep it very simple.

1 pound cranberries
1 cup water
1 cup Splenda (We have mild diabetes and using the substitute makes the dish healthier for us. Same reason we leave out the oranges or juice.)

Put everything in a pot, bring to a boil, turn to simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, uncovered, and stir often. That's it.

We use this with fowl, of course, but I also mix it in yogurt, oatmeal, on pancakes and toast, and it pairs well with roast pork.

I make cranberry nut bread with them, one of our favorites. We keep it around much of the time.

In season we like a pound of cranberries ground together with an apple, an orange and a cup of sugar as a relish. We have even used fresh cranberries that we kept frozen. We serve it fresh as a relish.
