My grandfather left me this shotgun. The only thing I know about it is it was either his fathers or grandfathers before him. Anybody recognize it?

Back action is 1850's, no Brandenburg listed in Stockel, not looking very hopeful. Folksy engraving, if you take the barrels out you will probably find Belgian proof marks on the underside :hmm:

OTOH, we all wondering what those curious arc shaped things at the front of the lock plates are? Those are very unusual :thumbsup:
 
The 'C T Brandenburg' stamp does not look like a maker, but is more likely a retailer with the initials C T who was located in Brandenburg. I'm saying this because the location of the stamp on the lockplate is not compatible with the artistry of the engraving. IF it had been the maker, then it would have been incorporated into the design, rather than added, as this appears to be, as an afterthought.

The two quadrant lugs, with what appear to be threaded holes, are a mystery to me. But then, most things are these days.

I believe the mystery lugs are the mountings for hammer block safeties. It appears the original safety blocks have been removed,
