Sad news has arrived, that Dr. Wendell Fairbanks has passed away at the age of 78. Doc Fairbanks has been a monument in black powder sports for many years in Nebraska and abroad. A hunter and competitor of the highest caliber, he was also a good man to help many, many new M/L shooters at various statewide Rendezvous and Shoots.

Doc, keep the campfire going,
Rick

I am sorry for the loss of your friend.

I just finished reading up on Wendell, his obituary and the history of the Alliance Rifle Club. He was quite the shooter, tying for First Place at the Palma Match in Australia (1988), competing successfully at Camp Perry, and the Nebraska State Championships, as well as organizing a Black Powder Cartridge Rifle shoot that was attended by shooters from all across the Country. And he enjoyed Rendezvous, staying in a tipi with his Family, competing with muzzleloaders.

We are diminished with his death.

Richard/Grumpa

Got to meet him a couple times over teh years and yes, one great guy. So sad to hear we've lost him. Prayers for his family and friends.
