does anyone know where I can get a replacement barrel? It's for .54 cal renegade.

They are on eBay all the time. But if it is a Thompson Center, why don't you ”¦.........well, call Thompson Center? :hmm:

Got a pitted one in trade a while back. It got turned into a very nice .58 Renegade barrel. Good decision.

Yes, T/C no longer makes .54cal Hawken / Renegade barrels for sale...the only caliber they continue to make those kind of investments in is the .50cal.

Other places to check for a .54cal barrel would be Track-of-the-Wolf and Cains Outdoor, West VA.

You got a .54 flintlock barrel from Tip Curtis that will drop in a TC stock. Would you please post or privite message me the cost of such a barrel.

It is NOT a flintlock. My lock is percussion. My apologies for not making that clear in my earlier post. Did not intend to mislead anyone.

I think he can remove the breech plug and turn it into a flint if that's what you need. I shouldn't post his prices in public. Why not call him and ask him yourself? He's a very nice guy, full of information and easy to talk too.

I can see where WWF thought you were referring to a Flintlock since this is the Flintlock forum.
I also noticed you mentioned buying the .54cal T/C barrel for your .45cal Hawken...I assume the .45 should have been .54 since the .45 is a 15/16" barrel bed and the .54cal is a 1" barrel...

Up grade to a 58 cal Green mountain ibs barrel 32" 1-70 twist right now... midway usa has them.

Yep; for a Renegade or Hawken 1" capper you can get any caliber you want from Green Mountain but flinters are .50 caliber only. Tip Curtis doesn't do lathe work and won't swap out a plug. Dennis McCandless will do it for around 100 bucks.

It's not easy to swap the plugs because it has to be timed correctly to line up right, touch hole drilled and the plug re-blued. You need to send the stock to him so you have postage expense both ways. It's a bit more expense than I thought when I was considering it.

I still haven't given up on a 15/16" .54 barrel for my PA Hunter stock though. I am thinking 10 bucks to cut/crown a blank, the plugs are 30 bucks, underlug, rib and pipes can be soldiered on or maybe even JB welded in place with clamps. Hand file the sight dovetails and drill and tap the touch hole. Brown to your liking and serve. About as cheap as one can go. Could do the same for your 1" Renegade and still about the same cost as a drop in.

Another option is to fit a Lyman replacement flinter barrel to a TC stock. They have .54 caliber flint barrels in 15/16" but not 1".

I was just gonna say...save yourself the headache and just start watchin' Ebay and biddin' on something you like the looks of. Forget all the send it to this guy or that guy and PAY, PAY, PAY!!!! Just buy another good used T/C barrel and be done with it!

No Sir. You assumed wrong.

I DO have a .45 (forty-five) caliber TC Hawken rifle. It is a factory 15/16" barrel. It is a percussion rifle. 1:48 twist.

I DID order a 15/16" Green Mountain barrel from Tip Curtis. It is .54 (fifty-four)caliber. It is a percussion barrel. 1:70 twist.

I know that a factory TC barrel in .54 (fifty-four) would have been 1". That is why I did not waste my time searching for one to fit my stock. TC never made a factory .54 (fifty-four) barrel in anything but 1" size for the Hawken.

That is why I ordered it from Tip, because he carries the Green Mountain barrels in 15/16"

Guess it was your choice of wording...the thread was about finding / buying a T/C .54cal barrel and your response implied that you ordered one from Tip.

Even made all the more so by your closing statement:
"OR"...a Green Mountain barrel...as a separate after-thought part of your whole post.

Can he NOT get a flint lock barrel from Tip Curtis?

I think you're splitting hairs over semantics, but whatever.

I'm pretty sure Tip Curtis is a gun maker and that he stocks a couple hundred barrels at any given time.

I'm outta this one - feels hostile in here. :youcrazy:

EDIT:
The original poster never even came back to say Thank You to anybody, and he never indicated if he was going to fleebay to look for a barrel or go some other route, so whats the difference anyhow? We're in here arguing over something that 'apparently' doesn't mater a whole heckuva lot. :rotf:

I'm going shooting. Have a good day Sir

Yes, I'm sensing that in your defensive comments redirecting blame everywhere else...

It did not. I specifically said that I ordered a .54 barrel for a .45 Hawken. Thats where your reading comprehension problems started. I was simply stating that he could probably find the barrel he wanted by calling Tip Curtis OR Green Mountain.

I simply offered a second option for him. No crime in that.

I'm not placing 'blame' on anybody. I think you must be off your meds. YOU are the one looking for a fight here and your "logic" makes about as much sense as a 3yr old chasing a turtle and trying to feed it an ice cream cone.

You might want to call your Doctor and ask him to up your meds. And you also might want to go back to the third grade and practice your reading comprehension.

I fail to see the crime I committed by simply telling the guy where to get a barrel. You can't read and you got your panties up in a wad over it. :rotf:
