I recommended Dutch's system to a gentleman on another forum a few days ago, and he went to the site to look around a bit. He found what he felt was an error in Dutch's tip on sighting in and we (the gentleman on the other forum and I) corresponded about it for a few days. We couldn't come to agreement about what Dutch was saying, so he called Dutch to ask him.

Those of you who have bought and used his system to good advantage will be pleased to hear he's still going strong at the age of 80, although he's retired from shooting now. I was a bit concerned to hear that his only income is Social Security and what he called 'infrequent' sales from his web site, which brings me to the reason for this post.

If any of you who have had success with Dutch's system know someone else who could also benefit, please use this as a reminder to pass along the suggestion that they get in touch with him. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

Oh, by the way, the gentleman on the other forum was right and I was wrong - he did find an error on Dutch's site, and Dutch was very grateful to him for calling his attention to it. So grateful that he offered to send a copy of his system to him for free, an offer the gentleman refused to accept. He said he sent payment by PayPal and told Dutch that if he wanted to give him something for free that he autograph the front cover of the system materials.

OOOoo, an autographed copy ! That would be nice.
I promote the system when ever possible.
But many just don't want to put in the time to follow it completely. They just try part of it, decide it's too much, not neccesary and quit.

Suit's me, I like being able to give my gun every advantage it can git.
The "Secret Papers" have helped me tremendously, defenately brought me to the top of the game.

Dutch is a member of this forum, and members can send him PTs if they want to correspond. If you go to his website, you can also get his mailing address and phone number. I have his email address, and send him notes regularly. If there is a mistake, I hope either Dutch, or you can tell us where it is so that we can all correct our materials.

I join you in recommending this information to friends, and to all NEW BP shooters. Its the cheapest education for anyone to learn the do's and Don't's of how to shoot a BLACK POWDER RIFLE ACCURATELY.

Dutch has done more to help more blackpowder shooters than any one else that I know of. :hmm:

He helped me a whole heap, and I thought I was a good shot prior to trying his system. If I were to buy it again, I would pay $50. It's worth that much.

Just reading the Tips and Q&A got me to want to read more so I hit the "Pay Now" button, can't wait for it to come in.

I bought his system awhile back. I got an e-mail from him right away. We sent a few mails back and forth. He seems real anxious to talk about his system.

Anybody who wants to talk to him please e-mail him. I know he'd be happy to get them.

I didn't have many questions, because his system just plain works, and he explains it well.

I would like to know what the mistake on his site is?

I bought his system two years ago. It literally saved me from giving up and getting a new hobby...my groups went from horrible to something I'm proud of. I actually emailed him last month and told him how great his system is and how I've improved. He said he was happy that I've learned from him and enjoys the positive responses he recieves.

I just found the mistake in his sighting in tips. Had to read it twice to make sure. No biggie, common mistake. I think most of us would catch it. I'll keep mum since I'm not a subscriber. Bill

I read here a couple weeks ago about Dutch's shooting system. was interested enough to look into it and make the purchase. Order was responded to next day and I had the packet a couple days later. Looking forward to using it!

I've used his system with success. What is the error that was found?
Well, to be honest, it's in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion. I personally don't see it as a mistake, but my correspondent says Dutch verified it was an error, so I'll go with his opinion.

In his Tips section, under "Thoughts on sighting in your new (to you) black powder rifle" Dutch appears to make the statement that to lower the point of impact one files down the front sight. Now, on the face of it that's clearly not correct. However, if one reads the statement in context (a shooter using a 6 o'clock hold changing targets to a larger bull), I believe it makes perfect sense.

I don't want to debate issue in this thread, so I'll just leave it at that. My correspondent said Dutch agreed it was in error and that's where it will stay unless and until Dutch says otherwise.

The point of this thread has been made: Dutch's contributions to our sport are legend. We wish him well.

I have bandied about getting his system but I have shot high powered most of my life so anything that contributes to BP I will gladly get, especially if it really helps. And the thought of helping out a Gentleman who charges a pittance for such good info deserves our support!

Thank you for bringing it up to our attention. People like Dutch are in short supply.

Cheers, DonK

Any one serious about accuracy needs a copy. Honestly, when you think you know it all, there is always something an experienced bp shooter will pick up. It was well worth my $20. Dutch is there for questions as well. If you want to save your self some time working up loads and improving your shooting put your money down. I will have to look for the error, I'm sure I over looked it.

I Read the same thing and dismissed it as a typo. The meat of Dutch's system lies elsewhere in the material he sends you.Like many others on here Dutch's system made my target shooting much better.I have told a number of new shooters to spend the $20.and save themselves a ton of frustration.

I live in Belgium, and bought the documentation some two or three years back. When I had some questions, the author was extremely kind and made every effort to help me out. After some time I really improved my target shooting, thanks to this gentleman. I am glad he still is in good health. I am possitive that even accomplished shooters can still learn something from his papers and I heartilly recomend his documentation.
