With all the interesting comments about these guns...I decided to find out for myself.

First off, if this is representative of their quality. I got no complaints.

Second on my list...

With 60grs of ffg and a patched 610 ball ~ it hits at exactly point of aim at 25 yards.

Would you mind if I ask the price of the gun?

Not at all...

Kittery Trading Post had it in Maine as a used gun. I walked out the door with it for less then $400...

fitter....

Here is a question for you as I know you to be a builder. Could you explain how the gun is not HC or PC, if that is your issue with it?

I think you did well in all honesty I would have thought more

the lock fits in the mortis better than the $1,000.00 wait for 6 months boom stick I have. Maybe I too will get a BaBo made gun. :stir:

i talked with several supplier of these he told me there re good/ok biuldes thn there are a few who just put out manure he said the trick is finding the ones who do better then the other ones
this one looks to be pretty nice
inletting does look nicely done
i say it worth the price and wait time

In other words:

All pigs are equal but some pigs are more equal than others? :hmm: :idunno:
Take your best shot

Hey Chicken Man,

You just had to ask didn't you ?

I think Mikes question pretty well covers it.I would take that $400 or less and save it towards somthing of quality. I, myself would use the money for a good barrel and piece of wood.Or I could buy that chicken from Mike that I always wanted . Mike will you throw a coop in too?

looks good, its very close to the ones i have seen.ever so slightly thicker in the for end & the ones i mentioned have very fancy side plates & inlays(in silver, they belonged in very wealthy families). i wish guns like yours were readily avail here.

Have you ever seen a real English Officer's fusil ?

Nope...not a one.
Haven't found any Real English Officers to ask, that would have carried that fusil, either.. :hmm:

But it fits nicely into my collection of guns. Think I'll nestle it between my Canoe Gun and my Pedersoli Brown Bess Trade gun..

I'm actually thinking of taking a ride down to New Hampshire and looking at some of their other guns. The folks that ownd MVT have an open invitation to anyone that wants to stop by and visit with them. Seems like a good group of people to do business with. That would give me a chance to handle the original Ketland that this gun was based on, as it is in their collection.

What I said in the OP was that I'm happy with the quality, reliability, and accuracy.

I'll add that I'm extremely happy with the price

I'm glad you're happy with your gun, especially the price when you consider an American gun builder can't even buy a lock and barrel for that price. But then again, why support American craftsmen when you can support a bunch of Indians. :idunno:
In my opinion, If Elmer Fudd was an Officer in the British army in the 18th century, this would have been the gun he was carrying.

Mike,

Actually, I bought it used. So I'm supporting Kittery Trading Post here in my home State of Maine. One of the last great gunshops that buys alot of American made guns. They undoubtably employ over 100 American citizens.

Middlesex on the other hand is a New Hampshire company that does indeed employ New Hampshire residents. That family has been doing trader rows at 'vous for decades.

So, by my purchase of this gun...a good deal of Americans benefited by it, all people that I'm happy doing business with. Folks that are employed, paying taxes, and involved with the gun trade.

By your line of reasoning, someone who buys an original English or French made gun is just as guilty as someone buying a modern reproduction. Both were made outside of the U.S.of A .....

I am truly glad that you are Happy for me...it makes my (and Elmer's) day. :rotf:

And point of order, if I may...

I do believe it is ~ "Waskily Wabbit"... :blah:
