I have been trying to contact Getz Barrel Co. for some time never an answer or call returned. Any one out there know how to get a Barrel there- I talked a Gun builder the other day and he said he has been waiting for a Barrel ordered for 3 1/2 years, seems like a long time, ant Clue? TGP

Since Don retired it seems like John has his regular customers and doesn't need any others. Try Rice.

I have 4 Getz barrels here at the shop now. None of them came from Getz directly. John did have about 6-8 barrels for sale on his table at Dixon's last year though.

It seems that since John took Getz over things are just not the same as when Don was running things. The service is very poor. I think the quality of the barrels is still excellent but not worth the wait. My advice is to get a Rice or Long Hammock barrel. Both Rice and Long Hammock make barrels every bit as good, and maybe even better, than a Getz barrel and Rice and Long Hamock's service is much better than Getz.

I dont remember what sizes were on John's table last year. My brain is not that sharp. :surrender: I think at least two were smoothe.
Mine are all smoothe and not for sale.

Go with Rice barrels all the way. I gave up on Getz years ago. Nothing worse than building a rifle for a customer and waiting 6-12 months for a barrel and it never arrives.

Same issue here, no returned calls. I found one at Dixon's last year reasonably, and I got one a few months ago from a shop (last one) for about half the price Getz was selling at Dixon's last year.

I delt with Jason at Rice and service has been literally perfect.

I also Delt with Mark and Linda DeHaas a few times, with exceptional service as well.

Charles Burton also seems like a good person to deal with, I met him at the Sgt. york shoot this year and got a barrel from him.

Jason at Rice barrels is excellent to deal with. Mr.Burton also is the same. I am awaiting a barrel from both and Im sure it wont be next year. only afew months

The first 4 LRs I built had Getz bbls....there weren't that many choices of swamp bbls back then. Noticed that some builders are presently making their LRs w/ Getz bbls....must have some influence. Then used some Colerains in a pinch but started to plan ahead and now use only Rice bbls. Top notch products and nice people to deal with. They schedule various styles and sometimes the wait is a couple of months, but they deliver as scheduled....Fred
