Hi from the Wabash Valley

From Montgomery County, IN. Have been shooting black powder since the 1980's. The first gun I ever owned was a Thompson Center Renegade, 50 Cal. I have had several Civil War Muskets and a 1816 Springfield flint. That's why i'm here, getting back into flints, this time rifles. Never built, but would like to learn how. My 4th g grandfather came to this county in 1828 from Ky. In his fathers will, he gave grandad his "rifle gun".Makes me think about what it looked like and how he carried it into this new place for food and protection. Excited to be here to gain some flintlock knowlage.

As pertains to building your first rifle, I suggest a kit from Track of the wolf and the book Gunsmith of Grenville County as a place to start. Anybody got other suggestions?
