So while looking for tools at the flea market yesterday, I came upon a powder measure in a pile of tools. I got it for $1. It's one of those 10-120 grain ones with sliding plunger adjustment and a swiveling leveling funnel.

The only problem is that it's missing the set screw to lock the adjustment. For now, I took the knob off the bottom and use that as a set screw. So does anyone know where I can get that set screw?

Take the measure to a hardware store and they should be able to come up with something. Or, measure the thread on the knob you are using and duplicate it.

Ya, the hardware store.
By the time you find one and they ship it to ya, it's the same cost as a new measure, :idunno:

Sounds like it could be a Tedd Cash measure. If you can't find a set screw at your hardware store (unlikely, even if it is metric) then can contact them at http://www.tdcmfg.com/

Thanks. I guess I'm going to the hardware store and getting a hex grub screw.

Were you able to find your screw? After thinking about it, I realized there were several different makers of adjustable measures like this. I looked at the first three of mine I came across....they were all different! One was 8-32, the second was 1/8-40 and the third was smaller, probably a #4 something. And now there are probably metric sizes that are pretty close. So....good luck in your search.

Nah, between class an PT, I haven't had time. I'll get around to it within a few months. Mine is marked as being made in Taiwan, so I'm guessing the screws are metric. I'll just bring it in and see what fits.

I would go to the nearby Ace Hardware or similar mom and pop place to see what they have in knurled bolts. I would then just redrill and tap the hole for the most convenient knurled bolt that I found.

Just a thought.
