Hi Ed,

I'm from SJ originally. exit 36 on the parkway...

:)

I've been wanting to do a tutorial for sometime. It may be hap hazard, but sometime in August I'll try to start one up. Moving into a new place right now.

take care,

Tom

Just got a few gravers from TOTW, are these ready to go out of the pack or should i sharpen them even thought they seem sharp to me. I'm a newbie to engraving!!!

Not ready at all. time to get some books or take a class- doubt you can learn how to engrave by answers on a forum alone.

Two other DVDs to consider:

Wallace Gussler's DVD "Engraving a Kentucky Rifle" from Amerivan Pioneer Video at:
http://www.americanpioneervideo.com/bkr.html

Also Keith Casteel's 2 DVDs "Engraving Tools and Techniques" from:

[email protected]

Keith's are particularly helpful because they describe how to make your own tools from old files by proper heat treating.

I was born in Somers point and went to Church there until i joined the Army.

Gravers are not usually ready to go unless they are specifically advertised as pre sharpened.

I hang out on Steve Lindsay's forum a lot. It wouldn't hurt you to join up there too.

You can learn to engrave if you want to badly enough!

Another set of videos to check out would be the set done by Lynton McKenzie.

take care,

Tom
