I did my rifle. Its easy, I used a triangle file and did the middle of each flat on the outside, then I used a center punch and made a dot between the file marks and the bore. Hardest part was getting the browning right so it matched.

Lots of way of doing them. If you mean a groove & then some dots like this, it is done with this lil tool.

This one was done with a hand graver & a small 3 sided file on a Jaeger rifle I built one time.

Lots of dif ways of doing them, just draw something out & do it with cutters, files, gravers, etc..

That one must spray 'em around the target quite a bit, Birddog, but looks like she might be a quick thumb-loader. :grin:

Catman: The tool is actually not my design. Ken Guy (Packdog) is the one that came up with the first similar lil gadget. I looked at his & made me one for large bores & one for small bores. Reason of 2 dif sizes is on the small bores I want to cut closer to the bore & by design I couldn't get the cutter in there where I wanted to on the larger one. So I just made a small one too & can cut one from .32 cal up to .58 cal.
