Nice one! Very late according to the pistol grip and the style of the furniture, probably late 1860's or early 70's. You paid an excellent price for it.

O-K Tom,

I'm going to let you buy my next shotgun! What a steal--seems like in great condition! Have you shot it yet??

Dave

You stole that gun! That's a very good price! Westley Richards made many fine shotguns as well as rifles for the British military and hunting rifles.

I'll give ya $300 fur it no questions asked. :haha: :haha:
Great find.
Congrats.
Dusty

 I think that you classify as being " felony lucky " A really great looking shotgun. one question, does it have Damascus barrels? Just wonder'n. Vern

I don't know much about that gun, but from what I can see, you got a GREAT deal. Given the oppertunity I'd but it too for that price.

It's a beautiful gun and you paid a pittance! I must sayhere, though, that it is NOT a Westley Richards gun, but rather a W Richards gun, made in Liverpool. Also, there's a slim possibility it's a Belgian gun with the "W Richards" a fake moniker, but from the pix I seriously doubt it. You got yourself a wonderful bargain, and I am envious, sir!

Chuck Dixon looked at it and said Belgium. Also has all Belgium proof marks.Yep it is a W.Richards.He said if it was a Wesley from England he wouldn't shoot it.He said England soldered their barrels and Belgiums braized.

I have a double 12 breech loader marked W Richards and laminated steel.I hunted with it for many years with BP reloads and had allot of fun with it.
