Hello All,
My brother and I recently obtained an older CVA Tower pistol kit from "Booker". We have now worked on it for a few evenings. A lot of that time has been spent fitting the barrel. Bright red lipstick does indeed work well for inletting!
It was kind of funny going to Kmart and having the young checker say "lipstick???", and then shrugging her shoulders and saying "ok, whatever" under her breath! :rotf: We are enjoying it so far, I find it a little addicting to work on. My brother Jed (13)can't wait until it is ready to shoot. I'll post a few pics in the next post. Flinter

Does it look like I have the barrel inletted properly?

Noise, smoke, shootin' stuff... what's not for a kid to love?

Its hard to tell from your photos whether the barrel is properly inlet... as general rules, the bottom of the barrel should make good contact with the stock the full length, the tang should be well seated and the drum should be supported by the lockplate.

Have fun with it...

Ok, thank-you, I guess I better keep working on it a little. Do you think it will bring the hammer into better alignment with the nipple if I inlet it deeper?

By the looks of your photos, inletting it the barrel a bit deeper (i.e., dropping the drum straight down) may help center it up a bit. The important thing is to GO VERY SLOWLY. I can't tell from your photos how everything fits, so maybe some others can chime in if they see something. I think you have the basic idea.

I say it would. You want the drum close, but a little gap so you can take out the lock out with out haveing to loosen the barrel. It looks like the barrel is back far enought. Dilly
