The sights are an aftermarket addition or more likely part of the original build.
Are there any markings on the barrel?
What does the lock look like? Any markings on the lock?
The rifle appears to me to be assembled from various parts and patterned on one of the many half stock "Hawken" style rifles marked in the 1970's and 1980's.
I would expect it to shoot very well.

Barrel is rounded off at the muzzle to fit a false muzzle. The barrel has a lot a patina that indicates to me that it is a lot older than the current build. The hammer shows a lot of corrosion as well. My guess is that someone took the barrel and action and used them to build a "Hawken" in the 1970's. I wonder what shape the bore is in. The markings on the side of the barrel tell me that the barrel was proofed in England. I don't know much about markings so that is purely conjecture.
I found the British/ England marking interesting, along with the 303....and 2.222 ...that’s the length of a . 303 cartridge.

The lock appears to be from an original Leman and the barrel looks original from something else entirely. It's a parts gun for sure, restocked at least once and fitted with contemporary trigger guard, etc. The barrel is a target barrel and if the bore is good, you'll have a very accurate rifle.

Hanshi, could it be a rifle put together in the later 1800s for target shooting from older parts and a contemporary barrel?
