In the Bodmer painting- The Travellers Meeting with Minatarre Indians, which maybe someone can post,my skills are lacking in that department. Was trying to identify the Indians that are next to maximilian and the other guy. it looks like the Minatarre are on the left side and being introduced.was wondering who that is doing the introducing? possibly eastern Indians? Delaware or Shawnee? any help will be appreciated!

Here's a link to a large hi-quality print of the image in question. http://uploads1.wikiart.org/images...rk-plate-26-from-volume-1-of-travels-1843.jpg
If the person in question is the one pointing at Bodmer (center right)wearing a red sash, dressed in skins, with a small NP belt bag acting as interpreter is the one you want ID'd - per the current research that figure is most likely Toussaint Charbonneau: Sacagawea's husband and the L & C Expedition interpreter.

Looks like the whites have percussion guns and the Indians have flint.

Sacagawea's son would have been early 30s maybe.

Son was Jean Baptiste Charbonneau. As I recall Clark raised Jean and sent him to a fairly high class school. He probably would have dressed white.

So the guide is the father and the son went back with the Prince for an education?

Lebonte, thank you for the info, that was the gentleman that I was referring to. what do you guys think about the shirt he is wearing buckskin? pullover? Or more of a frock type? Thanks.

Being an archer and bowyer I wish there were better details of the bows and quivers that they were carrying but, overall, there is a lot of good visual "information" in that painting.
