Just got a barrel that fits a stock I already had. It has a dovetailed underlug. When the barrel is laid in the stock, there is no pressure on the wedge pin, at all. If I wrap two layers of electrical tape around the underlug slot, the wedge key will stay in place. My question is it an acceptable practice to give the underlug a little love tap to tighten things up? If so, is heat involved? Thank you.

Definitely tap it and close it up a bit. No heat should be required.
