Am the proud owner of a percussion Hawken Missouri 50 cal with a fast twist barrel and Malcolm 6x scope. I am taking this gun up to the Thorofare drainage in Wyoming this fall elk hunting. Jack

Welcome Jack!

I can't help you with the load for your rifle. I just wanted to welcome you to the group. I'm sure someone will chime in with a bit of the information you are looking for.

Welcome to the forum; I can't help you with suggested loads either. That is something you will have to work up yourself to find the most accurate combination of ball/bullet and powder charge. I don't know where you hunt but would think a scope would be some unnecessary weight as regards distance a shot SHOULD be taken. Just my #.02

 Welcome Jack. Just how fast a twist is your rifle? 1-48 can be used with round ball(RB) 1-28 suggests use of one of those plastic thingy's we don't talk about in the open. :nono: PM me if you have questions concerning them and I'll help you with a starting load. Good luck and good hunting. This is a great place to learn.

1:26 I'm leaning towrd those plastic thingies ........... a barnes 295 gr. and 90gr of triple se7en powder for 125 yds and in. What do you say?
