Pyrodex is no worse than blackpowder.

This is the truth! :hatsoff:
Ron

That is not my experience. A coupla friends and I tried pyrodex when it first came out. We all clean our guns well and oil with good quality gun oils. Each of us experienced heavy after rust that required another thorough cleaning to remove. The rust in Leo's gun became so common, that he named that gun "old Rust." That rust disappeared, after a few range sessions of shooting black powder, once we convinced him to switch to black.

Pyrodex is a perchlorate based powder. That perchlorate residue is extremely corrosive.

Were those guns cleaned with hot water? Ron

Mine wasn't, and I doubt that the others were.

IMHO, the rust was heavier than flash rust.

I don't think Leo changed his cleaning regimen, just the powder he was using, when the rust disappeared.

Over the years, I have talked to a coupla other folks whose experience is similar to mine.

First I've heard of it. Been using Pyrodex for almost 30 years, off and on when black powder was low. Never had any problems with rust.
