I was wondering about these type of muskets guns and pistols, that are not vent drilled so that they can be shipped as (NON-GUN). But are used as real guns. Anybody seen or use these type of guns. They made the guns for the Alamo, and the Sharpe's Rifle TV series. and others shows. also Flintlock Bakers??? http://www.militaryheritage.com/muskets.htm

I have had terrible experiences with that company. They never shipped my gun, and when I called to inquire, the lady hung up on me... there are other sites that sell these guns, and I hear they are good for $500.00, but that sometimes the springs are rather loose. Also, the wood is much heavier as it is made from some sort of India wood.

I got a Long land pattern bess from Loyalist arms. It comes already drilled ready to go. they shipped it from canada with with locks seperate from the gun had no problems getting the guntothr US. Have had and shot it for a year have had no problems. They get thiers from a diffrent supplier still in india but they have modified them some , the stocks are thinner cleaner inletting.I have heard that there were a lot of problems with the eairler ones But loyalist arms listened to thier customers and improved the guns.As for the Discriminating general guns and Middlesex trading guns I have heard some complaints. The only complaints I have with my Loyalist arms gun is that that mainspring is so strong I can hardly cock the thing that has been fixed and that the finish will literally wash off the gun if water gets on the wood and the grain will raise. They are all made from rose wood. I plan to refinish mine soon. Some folks may disagree but for money the loyalist arms is a good gun and the folks up there are so nice every time I called to asked about my guns I ended with a hour long conversation about blackpowder.I think they still sell for$595. Oh by the way they are not proofed you must proof the barrel .
Just my two pence

Here are some previous threads that may help. I found them by searching the Forum for "millitaryheritage".

There have been some complaints on the board about these guys. The important thing to note is you have absolutely no legal recourse if the gun isn't up to your expectations or turns out unsafe to fire.

I've emailed Loyalist arms, they were prompt and courteous with their replies and shipping quotes. I was informed they now carry out final assembly and quality control at their premises. While I haven't personally purchased from them they have (mainly) satisfied customers on the board.

Well I made my decision on which company, Loyalist Arms. They talk to you and have real working guns, No drilling holes and plugs to take out. Going with the 1796 British Heavy Carbine. As a Cavalry carry Musket

A good choice. My buddy and I each bought a musket, his, a 1728 Tulle from TDG/MH and I a 1756 Bess from Loyalist. Mine was far superior to his. One of his barrel bands was cracked, the fit and finish was poor. You can see in their photos of the muskets on their web site tool marks on the metal and wood, well his was worse. I was actually embarrassed by how much nicer mine was. The finish of his stock was purple which rubbed off everywhere, he had to strip it. The only problem I had is that the frizzen spring to strong, it retards the ignition some times.
