Looking to bring my youngest son into the fold. Looking for a percussion .36 preferably (maybe. 32 if the right gun pops up) custom build gun. High quality wood and barrel. Thought I'd see what might be out there before ordering up parts for a new build. Light weight and good balance needed of course. Thanks.

And if you're a trader versus a seller I have plenty of barter fodder as well 😄

Its flint with 42" barrel and 14" LOP.....too big and wrong ignition.

Thanks to everyone for the replies and PMs and some mighty fine rifles been sent my way. Wanted to clarify what I'm looking for. My youngest has long arms but hes still a little feller. 13-13.5" LOP is fine but I'm really looking for a short barrel or EXTREMELY light profile longer barrel. 30-36" 3/4" profiles or maybe even a longer A weight swamped. I will also consider .40's....but .36 really my sweet spot.

I know it's a small window and building one may be my only option.....just thought I'd check first.

I have a.40 percussion 1/2 stock. Green Mountain barrel 1" X 32" with perfect bore 1:48 ROY.,Back action L&R lock and crisp single trigger. Stock is walnut and hardware is steel with case hardened lock plate and poured nose cap. Ramrod thimble are dovetails into the barrel, a little unusual. Custom made but do not know by whom, got it in trade. Asking $600 plus shipping.

Thompson Center made a Cherokee and Seneca rifle. Near identical guns with slightly different trim package. The caliber wre 32,36 and 45. The lightest gun (and most popular and most versatile) was the 45. That was due to keeping the barrel OD the same and boring larger hole. It has a short light barrel and a slender stock. it might come in right around 5 lbs, maybe 6ish max.

This model will carry a small premium (around $500 maybe a tad more) , but; the easy resale is there. It is a very easy resale, unlike some custom gun that requires customer education. They are plenty light for a youth to handle and yet not so small that it cannot be used into adulthood. You would have no problem from recoil with a light load and 45 round ball.

The TC 36 Seneca mentioned above is right up your alley they come up for sale on Gunbroker regularly. Very accurate light weight and is a little longer than the Cherokee. About the perfect rifle from youth to adult. I own it and 32 and 36 and really enjoy them.
