Just finished this rig I've been working on for the past couple of weeks. While not a traditional, period correct design, I thought I would post it here with the hand made stuff.

You did a very nice job --- The tooling and staining came out just great. It is hand stitched or machine? The stitch spacing is very consistent.

Its hand stitched. However, pushing needles though 8-9 ounce leather is tough on the fingers and often results in broken needles. Therefore, I laid out the hole locations with an over stitch wheel, then drilled through with 1/16" drill bit. Fiebings Pro-Dye Saddle Tan was used for the dye.

Oh...it's lined with buckskin suede.
