A couple ways to extract colorant from vegetable materials....
You can crush the color source up, and then...,
Boil them in water to extract the color, or soak them in nearly 200 proof alcohol to extract the color. I'm betting the alcohol would work better on nut shells.

I'd test it before I applied on a permanent project.

I would use denatured alcohol from the hardware store about $8.00, Way cheaper than Everclear ,don't drink any.
Exactly....,
If for some reason your hardware store is out of alcohol as folks bought it up for "disinfectant" when the grocery stores and pharmacies went "dry" then get a couple bottles of HEET fuel additive...it's mostly methyl ["wood"] alcohol.
