I lived in Florida for 26 years, before moving to Tennessee, and there is hardly any place with higher humidity than Florida. I used neatsfoot oil, for years, and, yes, it softens leather, until I discovered Kiwi brand mink oil. Kiwi preserves leather without softening it, and it is available most everywhere........Robin
