    Sweat

Some of us 20th century guys grew up in the deep hot south without a/c. When it got too hot we jumped in Little Canoe Creek.

    India Barrel Failure

Only firearm barrel failure I ever witnessed personally was when my cousin blew up an inappropriately loaded (hint hint) old shotgun. Peeled back like a banana. Last bp ml failures I remember hearing about were the Lyman breech plugs blowing out... Never heard of a recent bp ml barrel banana...

Flintlock smooth bores are hard to beat

Rob, My high-$$ flint rifle shoots crappy shotgun-like patterns anyway, so I am tempted to try a smooth bore if I can get the same accuracy with easier loading and lighter wt. What load are you killing deer with at 50-60? Buck and ball? Patched round ball? Can you hit a 8.5X11 sheet of paper...

    2024/2025 Squirrel Hunting Thread...........

Ed, We have more crows hanging around this year. They act as sentries for all the varmints and deer plundering my plant beds and back property, caw cawing when we walk out the door. Deer, ground hogs, squirrels, everything scatters. Are they doing that to you in the woods? Just a thought...

    North WEst Trade Gun

Interesting often-repeated lore is that the Indians would not trade for a gun that didn't have the serpent [ Example Link ]. I haven't found a reputable historical record of that, but have heard it all my life. ETA We always thought it was a dragon.

Were mzldrs and revolvers cleaned back in the day, as we do today?

Then, as now, there were probably those that overly cleaned and those that never cleaned, and all in between. Coincidentally, a young man brought an old CVA caplock gun to a local meet I attended last Sat that was so packed and corroded I couldn't clean out behind the clean out screw with a...

Hah, they put on a big front, but you drop that purse in her lap and she'll melt like a candle. You'll have to buy a batch of those blue pills... ETA: LOL you could buy her a $50 fake one, but I wouldn't advise it - they can tell.

Y'all are approaching this wrong. Draw about a thou out of your 401k and buy her a Louis Vuitton purse, and give it to her as a "surprise, just to show her how you love and appreciate her". Then you can buy all the guns you want and she can't say anything. Best investment you'll ever make.
