ramrod tip ?
i just cut square patches. there is always a bit of cloth above the ball. i do short start it, i don't know why it grabs on. i may just taper down the raw end of the rod, the end that is inserted in the rr hole and try that end to ram home the ball. thanks OU- old ugly

ramrod tip ?
i have a 40 cal flint long gun that has a 3/8 ramrod. the ramrod is just slightly smaller that the bore. every once in a while it has a tendency to grab the patch when loading. (makes it tough) it has a 3/8 steel end that is tapped for the cleaning jag. i am thinking of tapering down the end of...- old ugly

Decent set of carving chisels??
about 60 years ago my grandma told me. "if the knife isn't sharp when you buy it, it will never be able to hold an edge". I know we are talking about chisels and that times have changed but i would still be thinking of what she said. OU- old ugly

Trying to lighten the cookware
if i only go out for a few days (by myself) i don't take any foods that needs to be cooled or cooked. it makes the trip a lot lighter. and less bother with organizing meals. i take a small tin pot that i can make tea in, a knife. a spoon, and a round thin wooden plate to put stuff on to keep the...- old ugly

French pistol
i am looking for ideas for a taller front sight without modifying the barrel. rite now it shoots about a foot high at 15 yards. it is French made sometime between the late 1820s- 1850s. at sometime in its life someone made the front brass nose cap and covered up the ramrod hole. when i got it...- old ugly

the last of the parts for a gun build just showed up. some from TOW, some from Pecatonica river, some i all ready had here. 40cal 42" barrel, curly stock. steel hardware. im calling it a squirrel gun because it will be the smallest bore i ever built. OU -
