Hello, does anyone have a spare Starr Original single action cylinder stop. I have a broken one in my Starr. Other than that it is in really nice condition and I would love to shoot her. A pietta repo revolver cylinder stop does not work. Any help in finding one very much appreciated to get this old girl back in action

No worries, I need all the help I can get to find this part. I’ve looked in all the usual online parts guys. I want to get this beauty back into firing action.
I should have put this up before n the beginning. Picture of the part I need

Any competent gun mechanic in your area should be able to copy your broken one from spring stock, heat treat and fit it.
I thought of that but first the competent gunsmiths these days are hard to find. Second I search for quite a while for dimensions and came up empty. It was broken when I bought it and the only piece I have is a small portion which has the hole in it. It was welded previously probably by a hack and it probably broke again soon after the fix and the longer part which is the most important piece was missing. It has a very specific length and curve as you can see by the picture of the part. I am a very handy guy myself. I even bought (2) Pietta repo Starr cylinder stop parts hoping to make it work but after grinding, filing, polishing it just doesn’t work…..twice. Someone out there got to have one of these cylinder stops since there was thousands of the Starr single action revolvers made during the civil war.

Yep Your right, I’ve had probably 25 or more different model old revolvers apart and usually 7 out of 10 times the problem is worn or broken springs or maybe a few parts that have burrs. I make a spring or two and it’s like brand new again. When you got a broken part with pieces missing usually your only avenue is to find a replacement part. If I had a part to copy or even a flat pattern print I could make the part. This particular revolver has limited to no information about dimensional prints to work with. There were thousands of these revolvers made. I thought it would have been much easier to locate a very poor condition parts gun or just the part I am looking for available. I have seen this part for sale but unfortunately for me they were already sold. I was hoping with this big of exposure I would fine that one guy that has a parts gun or just the part I need. I have a Roger and Spencer revolver that is pristine. Thank God for that since there were only 5000 ever made and finding a part for that would be like hitting the lottery nearly impossible. I hope someone reads this post that has my part.
